This site rocks. The tactical puzzles alone are worth the Platimum member's fee. Really useful and much more fun than doing puzzles from books.

And to my great suprise I've found enough players here wanting to play under longer/non-blitz time controls like 40 min per side.

Only problem is I can't get the mobile version on my phone because it's non-java-compatible (and I'm taking the Blackberry I bought today back to the store tomorrow).

I feel that overall this site is good value for money. Thanks chess.com staff.

This is the best chess site in my opinion, because of the flexible time controls and unlimited games at one time. Helps me sharpen my chess vision a lot faster than playing OTB. Makes my OTB games alot more consistent than it would normally take than by trying to find OTB opponnents for practice.

Agreed :)

Except I don't find the correspondence type games to be good for my OTB game.  Reliance on opening books and being able to use the analysis board makes my OTB game weaker.

I dont use either of those. I have an opening book mainly for reference, since i have a bad short term memory problem. I mean more to the fact I can play tons of games simultaneously, so I see a lot of positions quite regularly and instinctively know how to handle those positions in OTB play.
