Yes, all three.

1. No 2. No 3. No.   - Chess is the ART, but this art has some rules (like poetry, that has rhythm, or music, that has harmony) and the outcome of the good chess is esthetical . I guess You don't remember how many points does Your favorite master achieved in the tournaments but You always remember his most impressive tactics.

The Art may be your hobby (there are many amateur poets or painters) while it is an art and it can give you esthetical pleasure but if not - who needs a boring hobby? The Art can be Your profession, but if it looses it's beauty Who will sponsoring boring wood pieces moving?

In my opinion chess is a tool. We can use the tools for diferents aims.

If we use chess as a simply tablegame to fight boring, then chess become a game.

If we use chess to train, improve and compete, then chess become a sport.

If we use chess to produce feelings of aesthetics, then become a art.

etc.

I doubt many people earn a living playing chess (via tournament purses, sponsorship, etc.). I expect many people earn a living teaching or facilitating chess (chess coaching, chess.com staff, etc.). Everybody else who plays chess seriously without attempting to live off of any meager earnings is a chess enthusiast, and chess is no more than a hobby. I think chess is a sport for anybody who plays it.

I think to be considered  a "professional chess player", at the minimum a player must be titled, must play regularly in tournaments, and must make the majority of his or her income by playing chess.

Like many other things - it is what it is for you.

People discuss (and argue and even fight) about many things.

Most of the time - the only thing that matters is how YOU feel and thin k about it :)

Chess is whatever you wont it to be. It could be all three and more, or none. I think it just depends on the person.

Chess is best as a hobby, a game among family n friends. When played with others, it become a battle of pride.

Chess is different for each person. It is like an art piece, where each person interprets it differently based on their own life style.
