You also need to update the program after you install it, because they never compiled it for the new OS.

Metastable

Sometimes when chessmaster crashes, it will leave the engine running in the background. This leftover engine can use all the CPU time and make things run slowly. Close chessmaster, then look for a program called "king350.exe" or "theking.exe" or something like that in your process list in the windows task manager. If you see one running in the background, use "end process" to kill it.

hah!  So I'm not imagining things...way back when, ICC suspended my account because they said I was running Chessmaster in the background - even though my dad I and insisted that nothing was running on the machine.  Sure enough, ICC was looking for the theking350.exe in the processes.  So yeah, do kill theking350.exe if you're not using it.

LMAO!!!!!!!!!!  I heard about that happening to some guy, and now I know it was you, lol.

I have it, and it runs slow toward the endgame for some reason. And I fall within the computer specs by a longshot. I guess it's just how it is.

It's probably stalling for time waiting to see if you are going to blunder in the end!!!!!!!!!!!Smile
