Chomping on hanging pieces is great advice!

yeah i was surprised that he was closed for abuse, even though his post was very trollish, he was never really rude to anyone (at least not any that i saw, but i'm not an active forum user). Not to mention that entire post was an april 1st joke

I was surprised it had not happened much earlier

Yes, he is gone, and for probably more than his malignant trolling. If you saw his profile page before he got booted from this site, it was just page after page of narcissistic trolling threads that he had created. I'm not sure he ever made a positive contribution to the Forums. His trolling was neither entertaining or satirical; he was just a malevolent troll who tried to either insult people or derail threads It was always the same nonsense, so he was also a bore. He'll be back, if not already using an alt account already.

And what was that other account. Because the lunasantin account seems to be active still. Or is that Honchcrow's alt? Or is Honchcrow and Chompy the same person?

How do you suggest improving board vision? I like puzzles but I don't find them so helpful for this. Puzzles are more like a correspondence/daily game (which I enjoy) where the position after each move can be studied. At present I play faster time controls online (mostly 10+0) with no expectation of improvement, just to keep a faster rhythm so I can play over the board without being spoiled by correspondence.

Keep playing! 10+0 or even 15+10 games are really good at practicing your board vision (and generally really good to improve at everything) I took a look at your account and saw that you were just shy of 200 rapid games, try to get that number to 1000 over the course of a year (that is about an hour of playing chess a day)

Much to my dismay i recently found out that the wonderful forum talking about chomping on hanging pieces was removed! I was very surprised by such actions especially when it is such great advice. In the initial forum HangingPiecesChomper said you could get to 2400 blitz by simply chomping on hanging pieces, which is true! However I think we can take this a step farther and look at our rapid games! There is so many hanging pieces you simply need to chomp on them.
Now of course I am being a facetious here but I wanted to give this game (and all my other games) as examples of why tactical/board vision is really important. It is perhaps the most important part of improving in these fast time controls (yes 15+10 is fast). Hanging pieces/simple tactics absolutely happen and it is the most major part to improve on for sub master level— but of course it is necessary to work on other parts of the game such as middle game strategy and endgames.
"Chomping" is a covert dogwhistle for cheating. I'm not surprised.
