choosing the plus or minus of rating for my first game

Haven't played a game yet, still getting familiar with the rules. When setting the + or -   for my first game any suggestions as to how high and low  a rating  for my opponents.  Not being familiar with exactly what each point represents I don't want to start off playing games too far over my ability or taking an unfair advantage when and if I get a ranking.  i am starting at the lowest  rank so im presently concerned about the + rank.  Any help?   thanks  tom

i wouldnt think too much on it, your first few games will be quite lopsided while chess.com figures out what rating you are. as for what to set it to, i would do -25/+400 that way you are constantly playing better players who will challenge you.

Thank you ,I had 150/400 but changed it because I thought 400 would be tooooo difficult. I'll try your suggestion. tom
