Hey @imoveB 👋
Hear your frustration. It's honestly a shame that long-time controls—especially classical—don’t get more love on the platform anymore. They’re some of the best for real, thoughtful chess, and yeah, cheating has scared off a portion of the community from those time controls.
As for cheaters? Yeah, it's wild. Most aren’t doing it to win in the usual sense—it’s often about validation, ratings, or just ego. But it’s hollow. They miss out on the actual joy of improving, learning from mistakes, and winning on their merit.
You’re not alone in preferring classical and correspondence. If you ever want to start some longer games with serious players, there are still groups and clubs here that are all about clean, respectful play—just a little harder to find.
Props for sticking with it. 1700 FIDE is no joke, and your integrity stands out in a world full of shortcuts. 💪
I am only decent at classical and correspondence. About 1700 fide level according to my IM friend. So there's no more classical here simply because of cheaters? I don't even understand why cheating is a thing. What do they get out of it? It really makes them feel smart to annihilate people in chess using an engine. Like haha. So what?
