Coaching Advice

I've been thinking more about coaching when I get titled and I was thinking of charging £25 an hour

What would be the best way to advertise my coaching services tho? Should I make bot comments on Reddit to say how great of a coach I am or smth? Maybe make a youtube channel?

What do coaches usually do ? How did you get to your coach ? What level would your coaching be aiming at ?

My coach just coaches me and most my OTB friends. I'd just coach anyone untitled lol

Coaches mostly just identify your weaknesses and suggest stuff to improve

But I'm fine with the content side of things, I'm just pretty sure nobody would wanna pay £25 for me when there's cheaper options from stronger players. So I'm gonna need a goated advertising campaign I think?

I mean what do they usually do for advertising lol

You could launch a start up company for chess coaching, with multiple coaches available. But that would be difficult, especially if you dont do commercial studies. You could get closer to a company that either 1. Helps doing ads 2. Helps little entrepreneurs to get bigger

I might be spitting absolute nonsense right now though

My coach is a GM he doesn't really need to advertise, people come to him

For minor titles like CM and NM you need to do a lot of advertising though, I'm not sure how though

Maybe I should make fake testimonials like “I was 1200 before cbb started coaching me and now I'm Anish Giri”

I am pretty sure you can get an interdiction to do your job if you do fake testimonials lol

You may be strong, but I would keep the price very low until you have some experience in coaching. General advice and analysis of someone’s games is nothing too special.

£25/hour is high for an unexperienced NM/CM coach. I'd suggest you to get experience first with a lower price like £15 or so. I'm also planning to be a chess coach, but first I'll get a title. But I'm already coaching some people (my little sister, and some of my friends) for free.

bro £15 is not worth it thats not even minimum wage

spread flyers around at tournaments

make lots of forums advertising your coaching (it's how I found my first coach)

yadda yadda

You already know what you need to do

oh yeah get verified as a coach on chess.com here, too. But of course, that would mean you'd have to use your real name and have a real bio

try setting the price low for the first 10 people, if they give good reviews about you. then try increasing the price for the rest. just depends on the demand.
