But Praveen in that blitz tournament you played four players of 2000 strength

you lost every single game. Someone genuinely of 2100 strength would not do this. the only games you won were against weak players of 1400 strength etc. It is fine to offer your services as a 1600 player because you can coach people of 1200 strength as I said, but please don't misle people and suggest that you are stronger than you are.

Fair enough, I understand your point. But please don't conclude that I would have used engine assistance to boost my rating on chess.com. I know I have not performed well over the board, and in all, those were the only two tournaments I've played. The only reason I suggested my ELO strength to be around 2100 is because I've been able to build my rating up to that level online on chess.com. I was previously a member of FIDE online Arena as well, where my ratings in rapid and blitz were above 2000, but my membership expired on that platform.

I am more than willing to demonstrate with you my level of chess and let you decide whether you think I'm making stuff up, or I'm genuine. The point that I agree with you is that my FIDE rating is for fact only 1600, and probably I should let me students know that beforehand, instead of only going with my online rating.

Praveen, may I ask you if you're 2100 strength why is your rapid and blitz ratings on fide only 1600?

I guess he is talking about 2100 chess.com strength

Thank you, I may consider doing that.

praveen and mr bunny - both sound fishy to be honest.  modern century con chess artist.  stop looting people and show some value first instead .

to mr bunny "who can lick my sunny" -  making a statement like " perhaps they have no family to feed, or rent to pay " - What are you trying to prove you some big shot ? You sound more or less like a hired gun by that filth trying to rip off people.

No matter how much wealth some1 has they should possess the right to check if the seller is legit or not..or can u find some1 better  ..Common reaction irrespective of some1's financial status.

As a matter of fact, I do coach for a living. And not just in chess. I teach a variety of subjects at an educational institution in India, and one of the subjects we teach happens to be about chess. There is nothing wrong with offering coaching services on chess.com as it is a great way to reach out to the chess community and offer online classes to those interested, as opposed to only doing it in person. I already have few students from chess.com who are happy with the services so far and it has been continuing for 3 months now.

Secondly, just because you do it for free, it does not mean that everybody else should do it for free as well. And you mentioned that you are coaching a "she"? Now I'm smelling fish as to why you agreed to do it for free in the first place.

I am titled player (National master, there was a bug a few days ago on chess. com and it changed to CM). My current fide rating is 2228 and I offer coaching services just for $10 per hour. By the way, all my students are completely satisfied with our lessons so..

10 dollars an hour? You might as well go work in mcdonalds for that lol

you are funny :) don't think that everybody is like you. I am student and I have my scholarship so I don't have any problems with money. But I really like to teach people, I am happy when they get better thanks to our lessons. If the only reason for you to teach people is money.. well, it's only your problem.

You are a child. Good luck in your teaching.

According to your FIDE profile, you are not 18. Secondly, if you really are offering $10 an hour for coaching, then I congratulate you. But what I'd like to reiterate once again in this thread is that the value of a coach isn't defined by what his FIDE rating is. The rating is only a part of it. What student's really need is a mentor that can guide them through effective teaching methods that enable a smooth learning process. Considering my background in education, and my level of chess put together, I have set a fair price that is not only below the avg. hourly coaching price, but is value for one's coaching needs.

I don't need to be a grandmaster, I don't need to be a FIDE Master. What I need to be is someone who understands Chess up to a level that's beyond a beginner and intermediate player, and has a good foundation in understanding opening themes, ideas, and strategies that can be communicated and taught effectively to another individual who wishes to learn the same. I have that capability.

Let me ask you, if you have a talent for something, why should you not charge for it? Presumably there should not be any piano teachers then, or people who give golf or tennis lessons?

As for Ironknight, his comments are so sad and ridiculous he hardly deserves a reply...

ha ha ha - i doubt u had a answer.  sure praveen pays u well . cheers.  peace to all

I'm sorry you feel that way, but instead of spilling out random BS, I suggest you get facts straight and then put across a sensible comment. Please identify a coach anywhere else on the internet who is offering coaching lesser than $20 an hour and is a Titled player.  Thanks.

I`m not a titled player but I have enough knowledge about chess to coach someone!

I`m currently coaching a player on this site and I think she is satisfied about our sessions.I do this completely for free!!Not a cent!

The only legit reason one could take money for coaching someone, would be if it was ur living. And if so,u probably wouldnt be offering ur services here, and in this manner!

My conclusion is that ur either not a good coach or ur just greedy.

But hey,thats just my opinion...

Amen to that!
