Never heard of it before their collaboration with chess.com and have no desire to use
Comet; the new Preplexity browser.
to do all the wonderful things you're describing, it's collecting and cloud-storing personally identifiable information on you (PII). If you use credit cards or pay accounts online, it's collecting that too (as it is effectively a keylogger, among other things). It is correlating all of that with your location, the people you know, the food you eat, the clothes you wear, your travel habits. you're keying passwords into your browser, too. Right? And if you use online health portals (who doesn't), it's got your MRIs.
is all of this troublesome. oh, no. of course not. :). what could possibly go wrong?

But if I only use chess.com it's a all good right
it's impossible to imagine a site like this getting into such a cooperative deal with the Microsoft Edge unit, and yet Edge/Copilot is no more invasive than Google's AI Overview. So it's hard to fathom how they could have decided that getting in bed with Perplexity/Comet is a good idea.

im using Fedora i cannot downlad it sad cos i wanted free puzzles, thats the only thing making me not be a GM

Comet is an AI-powered browser by Perplexity that goes beyond normal browsing by summarizing pages, answering questions in context, and even performing tasks like filling forms or sending emails. Built on Chromium, it offers voice input, multi-tab intelligence, and automation shortcuts, though it’s still new and faces challenges with privacy, reliability, and security risks. I prefer to think for myself.
