Sponsorships in the in the US aren't very common at all. You might get some smaller local companies that will sponsor local, strong players but that is a very individual thing.
There have been companies in the past that have sponsored some events but as far as I'm aware not very many do anymore.
Alright thank you very much. I was inquiring because I am a rising scholastic player but due to my geographically isolated location cannot attend tournanents regularly. I set up a gofundme but it hasnt been much sucess

Sponsorship has 2 components. 1. The sponsor. 2. The sponsored.
Nike sponsor basketball.
Intel (computer companies) sponsor chess.
But who gets sponsored is another question.
