Confusion with winning possibility

During this game, ( www.chess.com/livechess/game?id=1215510723) my opponent, who was playing white, was repeatedly offering draw at the ending phase. I declined and at last  they resigned. After the game, I sent them a  message saying:

" you were offering draw!!! strange!!! can you please explain the logic behind the offer? and why should I accept a draw offer when I am winning? "

My fellow opponent replied:

" U weren't really winning bro. It was just a figment of your imagination."

(However they wrote one more sentence. That was entertaining but not relevant here.)  This message made me confused. I am really interested to know whether there is anything hidden here. It is worth mentioning that, if my opponent  had not resigned, they would have lost on time. And it would be nice if you readers kindly let me know your ideas about this game through comments.

Thank you.

Some people hate losing and will offer draws in completely losing positions.

You were overwhelmingly stronger, something like 21 points. Trying the scholar's mate was childish of him
