I'm talking of how everyone says he was scared to play karpov. Fischer was a prima donna and a whiner. Scared? Not necessarily. If you have a journal entry or a letter to a friend saying "oh, I don't know if I can beat Karpov, what do I do what do I do?" then I might see it.
Cowardly Fischer

Its funny you think that a completley irrelevant speculation using the word "ridiculous" like its self evident, amounts to anything worth answering.
Ah, I see.
And here I thought you were just running away out of cowardice. Like Fischer ran from Karpov.
Thank you for clearing that up for us.
"So it seems to me like it is just speculation based on the fact the match didn't go through"
It is speculation based on the fact that Fischer quit chess and refused to play. The reasons can only be speculated about.

Is that a proven and well documented fact, or just an opinion of yours to satisfy your need to shit on other people's achievements and decisions? Mind you, to leave something when you're having the most out of it is very difficult and hardly something to be superficial about as you are being.
.
Just as long as you thought it through.
That's the importamt thing here.

I didnt even read this thread. Its garbage. Is this supposed to be trolling or something?
This is just a simple example of his entegrity, and how easy it was to prepare against him: Fischer always played 1. e4. As black, he always played 1. e4 c5. Anyone could prepare against him....but...look at his tournament records.
He was as fierce and as honest as they come.
I'm not posting to this thread anymore. This is straight retarded. An 1800 troll who like Gollum started this. Did he start that karpov thread too?
Ignoring this...this is rubbish.

Karpov didn't have a chance against Fischer! An average chess player without any bias, knows this for sure!

Unfortunately, Fischer was a coward. He knew that sooner or later Karpov would win the title and that's why he decided to hide and quit chess to avoid being ashamed.

Fischer was a coward for people who don't like him, that's all. I'm not sure what kind of cowardice he showed in taking on the Russian regime to become world champion or the risks he took in mouthing off the US, but for someone that doesn't like him they can always call him a coward for retiring early.

Check the topic above and you will understand. Fischer was afraid of Karpov because he was much better player.
Amazing how trolls can read Fischer's mind 7 years after his death and 40 years after the event in question.

Is this the Karpov known for his exceptional endgame skill that Fischer was scared of?
A Karpov who can't checkmate with K+Q+B+P vs. K+P
Yeres30, thank you fior sharing this. You are right Fischer will NEVER make this mistake like Karpov did against Judith Polgar.

I love it when someone posts in a thread to say they're ignoring it.

Karpov had 160 tournament victories. I'd match that accomplishment against Fischers 19 game winning streak any day.

Thank you! Keep them coming..Never laughed so much this year!
Karpov had one weakness not a single world champion had - playing like a patzer.
.
Patzer?
Like Fischers Bxh2?? In game one versus Spassky?
Hey, its the I Hate Fischer bandwagon! Do I let it pass by, or do I jump on and start slinging insults composed sheerly of conjecture?
There really is not much hate... but let me ask you something. We aretalking about Fischer's demands to play Karpov. We have the documents. So, how are our conclusions based on incomplete info?
