Crappy servers and losing on time when you were WAY up

Anybody else having fun getting screwed by the crappy servers that chess.com is using? Like playing one minute games, up by 20 seconds and then all of a sudden you lose because your time ran out? And you are sitting there watching the other players time run, but really its yours and all you can do is yell and cuss the stupid servers because i know its not my connection? They know that the servers are having problems, but have yet to do ANYTHING about it. Its been this way for a LONG time. At least 6 months. Just curious how many other people out there are just as angry as me about this. I can't even sit down to play games on this site its so bad. I have to go to  [another site -- MS] . Every time I play on this site, I lose at least half of my games due to time, AND ITS NOT MY FAULT.

What kind of area do you live in? Big city, rural, etc?

if you are asking me i am city of 500k with fiber optic internet feed. trust me its not on my end and i am not the only one. the chess com servers are horribly sized.

agreed. your rating will be much more accurate if you only rate games against bots and not unscrupulous loser abandon and runners. i do believe those that run when they lose are the cuse of the other anomolies in the software.

Happens to all of us, buddy.

I almost decided to quit chess once it happened..... But didn't

If you hate losing on time and crappy servers, then close your useless account and go to o.t.b and play 15|10. @speedgamesonly

I'm 1800 and I haven't faced any difficulty in bullet. It's just the skills you've got. Play more rapid if you think you are fully capable of mastering it. If bullet, it's just skills and quick moves. I personally follow the 20/50/30 rule and I know I am not alone. 20% of your memorization, pre-arrangement on the opening, 50% to take time and look out for basic 3-5 move tactics and 30% playing advanced endgames, look out for basic forks, or pawn sacrifice to promote, and of course, premove.

I keep losing on time either waiting for my opponent to move—all the sudden, I get a notice that I lost on time. Quite frequently, I will lose with a full 30-40 seconds on the opponent’s clock.
It’s way more pronounced on a phone vs pc. I figured it evened out, and happens to everyone now and then. I wish I had the data to examine.

Check your network connection @greyecat

Whilst there are diverse ways to imply this function, one way is to use the /commands enabled by chess.com

1.  Typing /ping on live chess. This is helpful when you are in the middle of a game.

2. Not sure if this counts as cheating but you could ( ** MAYBE**) open a new window in your browser and go to basically any good website which checks your current network. My preference is https://www.speedtest.net/

This is how it looks

Last but not least, please note that this is a crude way of testing your current network privileges. There may be many ways. Maybe it's not even associated with Network! Either way, you can find help anywhere you want!

130-140mbps- consistently. This is the only site I have ANY issues with. I know it's not on my end....

I don't really play games here, but I've listened to similar complaints for y-e-a-r-s...

Whatever the problem is, I doubt that it's gonna get fixed any time soon - maybe never. So, if the situation isn't adequate, then you know what has to be done.
