Creating diagrams

Can someone recommend a good method for creating diagrams from FENs to include in a print publication? I need them to be simple black-and-white diagrams, though I would ike to include coordinates on the side of the board, since this is intended for inexperience players. Here's an example of what I mean:

I guess it depends on how you plan on making the print publication. Were you planning on using something like Microsoft Word?

It's for a published book (I'm a book editor by day -- usually not of chess books, but I had one fall in my lap.)

What I'd need would be a high-resolution .jpg file. Any ideas for a program or website that would create one with coordinates at the side?

Perhaps a tool like Chess Diagram Editor - Apronus.com as a start.
