critical juncture???

He was "the king of critical moments."
I often recognize these moments in my games (longer than bullet time controls), but neglect or fail to give them enough thought. In these moments, I sense right away when my moves/blunders leave me in a worse position, at which point I seriously consider resigning (although this would be a mistake given that there is still a lot to play and I may be lucky enough to reverse the situation).
This is one of those aspects that remind me how limited my chess knowledge and skills are.

Merlin: STAND BACK! Be silent! Be still!... That's it... and look upon this moment. Savor it! Rejoice with great gladness! Great gladness! Remember it always, for you are joined by it. You are One, under the stars. Remember it well, then... this night, this great victory. So that in the years ahead, you can say, 'I was there that night, with Arthur, the King!' For it is the doom of men that they forget.
Not to trivialize what comes before or after...I have often found in my games that there is a particular place in a chess game, often subjective, and usually in the mid-game, where there is a tipping point, a critical juncture, where one side or the other will gain the advantage and keep it and there will be little that the losing side can do but watch it unfold from there on, even knowing or predicting the moves the opponent, but helpless to do anything, like a snowball rolling down a hill and gaining speed and size as in travels to it's inevitable conclusion. There may be a long pause at this point on the clock where the players realize they are at the critical place of decisiveness. I have not seen anything posted on this topic.....please post your game if you have a mind to.
