I thought you bought one Magic?
Czech club play chess set design - how do you like it?

Why didn't anyone write that Česká Klubovka" ("Czech club") set was played at the 1931 Chess Olympiad in Prague? There is not a single source on the Internet that indicates this.
Or am I wrong?

I'm done collecting, I'm all set....buuuuut if I ever buy another set it will be this one among others.
Hi Mike...I was going to buy one,but the Oldset 19th Century Soviet Alekhine pieces caught my eye,so I got that set along with the H.O.S. acrylic covered box you turned me on to.I thought that combo of box and super nice set would do it for me...permanently.
I admit to salivating to the C.K. pieces from time to time.....Then I lie down until the urge to buy goes away.-

Oh yeah! It was the Alekhine pieces! That’s right. I remember now. Yeah that box was a great deal at about $60.

You can't keep lying down the whole time no? Commmme on, you know you want it
Michael...After just dropping big bucks(more than two Noj sets) on two astronomy binocular set ups,I doubt the wife would allow it......I like her cooking too much to rock the boat.-

Ah yes, the one thing that brought down the greatest men throughout history...good food. I hear ya buddy!
Bringing the thread back, simply because some of these sets are so different from what we normally see here and just flat out cool!...Especially liking the one in post #25.
Actually, the Ceska K. sets offered by H.O.S......Staunton Castle and Chessbazaar(in that order) are nicer looking to my tastes.
I have a real hankering for one.....Hard to not hit the buy button.

I am from the Czech republic and I like this set, especially the rook design seems very nice to me. We use this set in my local chess club.

Classy and nostalgic. You can find them anywhere around here, from blitz at the pub to clubs or high-level tournaments. I decided to buy a set of these for myself after a tournament in Ostrava last year, too.

I quite like this set, and at some point may purchase a set, in the meantime have been admiring the sets shown on this website.
My God! The variety of those gorgeous Ceska Klubovka sets on that site is eye popping!
My most recent purchase is the Staunton castle Ceska set....Could not be happier, but I never realized how many subtle changes were made to this design.....Really cool site.

Can someone confirm whether the Ceska Klubovka is FIDE approved. It might be recognised by Czech Chess Federation for local club play - but for international chess tournaments?
I have had my eye on the C.K. sets for quite some time......Soooo damn cool!....With my already owning 19 tournament size sets and little room left for another,my rationalization is.....
"Well,it's the one that got away".
Do me a favor....Try to limit uploading anymore photos.-
