Daily Chess Obsession

I use opening explorer a lot in my daily chess games. I like daily chess games, but I probably wouldn't play daily chess at all if it weren't for club matches. Rn I have 144 daily matches

i like daily because i can play out my moves with the option they provide which actually improves how i think about my moves. its a bit difficult to visualize 5-6 moves in advance several different ways but with the option i can play out each scenario. in fast pace matches i rush my decision and cant envision each line or even plan out how i wanna win.

running a ton of matches at once does get confusing but with daily i get to press back and basically play the game again which jogs my memory and what i was planning. i like to keep my games under 10ish just because when i run alot at the same time it tends to get a bit repetitive which ends up lowering my love for the game. please dont laugh hahahaha.

I use daily chess as an alternative to Rapid since i do not usually have the time to play rapid as it is too long

You sound obsessed with the idea that people are obsessing over the game.

Is this an obsession?

In terms of seeking for improvements, I would definitely recommend classical time controls over daily games.

Why not both?

Play some Daily games, so that you can practice analyzing positions and finding the BEST plan, the BEST move... but also play some live games at classical time controls, so you can practice finding the best plan and the best move in real time.

In my opinion, daily is a way to practice. As someone mentioned, it allows us to find the best move. In addition, 'cuz of a long (maybe long) time between each move, I can get rid of all of my old ideas to overthink again and find other plans, which gets me more active =))

However, of course, rapid is more effective due to the practicality.

Daily games are highly misunderstood. For instance, when a player, such as the original poster, tells you that he will run a 100+ daily game with a move per day or every couple of days, you know that he can't, of course, analyze the position and take his time, as you suggested. That's the approach I was coming from. Though, in terms of analyzing and keeping it in an improvable and achievable way, I would perfectly agree with you and disagree with my original comment.
