In that case there is only one solution.  Fight fire with fire!  Play 1. h4! followed by an immediate 2. a4!!  Cool

Ok, if I got you right, the issue is that the opponents do not play book openings, so you can't use your favourite lines from the opening books. That's just the way it is, and it is one of the reasons why memorizing opening lines is not very useful at our level (another reason being that memorizing lines will not improve your understanding).

are you talking about when people don't follow a set move sequence??? for example when your opponent is playing as black and they do something like 1.e4 e6 2.d4 d6 (but something a little more aggresive than 2...d6 i'm just giving an example)

Like I said, if you truly study openings you will actually learn to NOT memorize the moves, and you'll understand the concept behind it. Like for example in the Najdorf Sicilian the basic plan is to pawn storm the queenside with moves such as Nd7 or Nc6, followed by Bb7 or Bd7(if the Knight isn't there) Rc8, Qc7, b5, b4, followed by an eventual e5 or d5 by black, and if ever white does g4, ...h6 is the response

I play somewhere else pay no attention to my rate =(

______

ONTOPIC: OP you have to study the basic opening ideas so you can crush any stupid surprising moves. There's a reason why 1...h6 is wrong..

There's also a reason why 1. E4 C5 2. Qf3?! or Bc4?! is Dubious...

that i know sicilian is both white storming kingside while black storms queenside and sicilian is controlling the d4 square
