There are so many things White can throw at you, though. But yeah, maybe I should try it.
It's very easy to play IMO

I feel like i should say "you're welcome" but I'm not gonna say "you're welcome" so you should thank me for not saying "you're welcome"
I've had better luck with the Slav than other Black D's vs 1 d4 (chess.com Opening Explorer - which is very incomplete - says 62% wins, 7% draws, 31% losses). It's important that you threaten relatively early, often with ...c5.
For variety, I've been studying the Nimzo-Indian Defense and will try it in some games when I'm ready, but the Slav with remain my main 1 d4 defense as long as I keep doing well with it.
I've had my better luck playing the Tarrasch Defense --- 1 d4 d5 2 c4 e6 3 Nc3 (or 3 Nf3) c5. In the mainline I prefer 9...cxd4, 9...c4 is too complex for my liking, but it's a matter of taste.
1.d4 seem to be a toughie doesnt it!? Like you sir i am not a big fan of the indian defences I would recommend 3 choices for you/ i am currently studying the benoni volga gambit complexes, they have two advantages, one lively piece play if you are good at that/ the second is that it forces the player with the white pieces to defend early, in exchange for the better pawn structure> 2. Would the queens gambit accepted its not played much and although it cedes the center early to white, its pretty decent.
3. the third and most risky option would be an irregular defence to the queens gambit, my choice would be the chigorin defence
