Try a N -30 degrees backwards when it is threatened or a B or Q one diag square back if attacked. A R one square down.

noticed the last few weeks that when i move a piece it stays there and then a second later it goes back to its original location and then moves again to the location i chose. doesnt happen all the time but it is quite a delay.
