Difference between "Openings" and "Explorer"

Inside the "Learn" drop-down, there are two choices that confuse me. There is a link to "Openings", which lists thousands of opening variations, some of which are complete games. Likewise, there is a link to "Explorer" which, for all the world seems to be the same thing. For example, 1.e4 e5, 2.Nf3 f5 (the Latvian Gambit) gives essentially the same variations in either place.

Could someone explain the difference (if any) between the two? Thank you very much.

Openings is a searchable database of master games. Explorer uses the same database, but instead of searching, you make a move on the board and it brings up the data. The Explorer can also be set to search your own games, or a certain user's games, instead of the master games.

Another thing about Explorer is that it plays games all the way out - it should cut off around moves 10-13.  It is legal to use it for daily games and I've seen at least one case where every move Bobby Fischer made throughout the game was copied.

Personally, I can't understand why anyone would want to play someone else's game instead of his/her own game - how could you take pride in the result of copying someone else's moves past the opening? It's no longer YOUR game.  AFTER the game, you can check out other games to see where you might have made better plans and moves, but not while playing!

Good (and important) point. I may be Spartacus, but I am definitely not Fischer.
