Digital Chess Clock

I have a digital chess clock (Chronos).  If you are *White* how are you supposed to handle starting your clock because your opponent is not yet there?  If you start your clock I have a feeling that the clock will think that you are playing the Black pieces and therefore the time control will be off by half a move.  Any thoughts?

You start your clock, make your move and then hit the button, starting your opponent's clock.

Problem solved.

Thanks. A long time ago the rule was changed so as White you no longer have to make your move.  I guess with the advent of digital clocks we have to go back to the olden days and make your move.
