How many years from the present going back in time has it taken mankind to play half of all chess games ever played?

Chess players may ask how and in what way is the question relevant or interesting. I may be posing this in a clumsy way but i'd say that what we would be talking about is how the internet has changed the game. My rough estimate is the year 2002. I admit i have no math formula. Neither is there any scientific analysis behind my estimate. I am hoping that maybe someone does have the numbers and the data and science.

Out of all possible moves in a given position perhaps only 3 make sense, ballparking by saying it is 5% of moves and that 35 moves is average to reach a standard endgame... I would say 0.05%^35 have been played and repeated, but barely a fraction worth noting of all possible games.

Oh so you are eliminating -- not counting--games with blunder moves(?). That sounds like you are setting a high bar, sir.

Well then, i go back to my question... ...how many years did it take players on the internet to match the number of all games played without the internet--kkay not exactly the same question but close enough. The implicit question is what impact has the internet had on this game?
