ding bites the dust, he should have never got the title

in the past last year Ding kept the title of 'world champion' but seriosly no one never treated him like one. This was like a story, told between kids and tired elites who just doesnt want to bother, people just smiled behind his back..

It was Ian's incompetence to miss that chance, he couldnt just keep his cool and failed. I never had seen Ding as a world chess champion, and finally its over.

I know nothing about Gukesh, never seen him at big tournaments, how come Fabi cant just get the title, but gukesh.. people getting old i guess

I'm telling my opinions, is it rating dependent too?

Why is this site full people trying to patronize you all the time? you can share your opinions as well, and we see how professional chess works?

I've kind of thought the same thing about Ding for a while. The majority of videos and stories I've seen of him are about games where he lost because he played an unusually bad blunder at the worst possible time. He's definitely good; he just chokes more often than the average GM.

Hear, hear. I agree.

Ding was an absolute beast five years ago. Obviously there is only one player in the world who deserves to be considered the world champion - Magnus remains the best by far - but go watch some of Ding’s games from like 2018-2020 he’s a weapon

The game was depressing for me :[ (bc ding lost)

this is the final clock positions, that's how it ends when you are 32 and your opponent is just 18.. Magnus stopped defending right in time. in the right age.

hate is a strong word, there is no reason for me to hate from anyone who i actully never met in person, he has no effect over my life either. I shared my opinions about his unrealistic title, world champion means you are the best.. and obviously he was not.

he was almost no where to be found in a year, didnt join many tournaments, always avoided competition. this is not hate but pointing out the truth, maybe you should read first post again.

You are entitled to your opinion, but also people are entitled to say that your opinion is wrong.

I legitimately think Ding is the weakest world champion since Euwe, and maybe Khalifman and Ponomariov if you count the FIDE knockouts world championships.

Yet, acting like he is not a legit world champion is stupid. It's not his fault that FIDE decided to knock out Karjakin for the candidates because of his opinions on Russia x Ukraine war. Is not Ding's fault that Magnus refused to defend his title against Ian. And he bested Ian on the tiebreaks. He won legitimately the world champion of 2023.

So yeah. One of the weakest World Champion in history, but, a World Champion nonetheless. Ding is number 22# in the world right now. xD

And Caruana didn't win neither the 2022 nor the 2023 candidates, finishing in 5th and 4th, respectively. So, why should he be World Champion?

Fabi probably will still play in two or three more world championship cycle. He might actually become a world champion in the future, thought.
