Fide has announced that Ding Liren vs Gukesh is happening in SINGAPORE and schedule is from 20th November to 15th December.

I hope Ding regains his title and silences his haters !!

I don’t like that they have the defending champion defend their title without going through the competition like everyone else.

I agree with you.

Why should the champion not have to qualify for and play the Candidates tournament like everybody else?

That's how it always has been and it's a perfect system - you earn the right to play the World Champion by winning the Candidates, and then try to beat the reigning champion over many games to prove you're the top player in the world.
