check the message that comes up when you click on live chess. it explains that this will happen and not to play yet while they fix the problems unless you're happy to be patient with it. gives you a couple of tips like avoiding using internet explorer.

there's a fast players group, and you can view everybody's time per move stats, so you can play quickly with many players even if it's not live chess; just challenge a fast player who's online.
