Disconnection

Although Chess.com has a claimer on this issue has anyone noticed that the disconnections always happen while your opponent's clock is running and that the games that get disconnected you are never losing more than a point in material.  This always seems to be the case with me.  Does this happen with anyone else?  I never get disconnected when I'm losing.  It's always in a close game and on my opponent's turn.  Why is this?  Wouldn't disconnections happen randomly?  Why is it always in a very close game or winning game but never in a losing game?   Kind of coincidental, isn't it?  Before the staff on Chess.com starts with the usual routine how much time does it take to rectify this issue.  Pogo.com, Livechess.com, Yahoo chess, and many other free online chess websites and none of these serves have this problem.  Why does Chess.com have these issues? Is it a lack of qualified personnel?

I think you have to post this question to the administration of this site,as the coincidence you have noticed might be due to some matters unknown for us,or to you a bad luck.

Let us know whats the solution of this problem,if you decide to corespond to the admin.

first off, we don't evaluate the score of the game, so there is no way this is related to who is winning/losing.

secondly, the other companies you mentioned have #1 HUGE resources to work on this stuff and #2 have been around for 10+ years.

additionally, they use java applets or clients. we're using dhtml. i know it stinks for some people right now who have limited browsers/computers/bandwidth, but when that all comes around and we get our app working top, those java apps and clients will be less interesting.

Has it occurred to you, that for every game you lose that you were winning, your opponent wins a game that they were losing?

Now... what was that premise again?

Ray, that was very nice.

Actually, this way of thinking is way off base.  The person Corbett has been playing DOES NOT get disconnected.  BOTH PLAYERS DO NOT GET DISCONNECTED.  So the player he is playing gets the automatic win, therefore, your point is completely moot.  I'm amazed some people can claim to play chess, yet can't think about simple every day occurences.

I've had a few games that I won mysteriously, only to find out it was because the other person got disconnected, and yes, they happened to be winning.  I've also had a couple where I was disconnected, and again, while winning.  I'm not sure about the "it's their move" deal, but I would guess that is due to your information from your move being sent to the server, but getting lost.  I would imagine that any move you make just prior to being disconnected would never reach the other player, which would be a total drag to be disconnected on your mating move.  Hope THAT never happens to anyone :)

I can almost guarantee you (not saying that I know very much, though) that the amount of games that you are disconnected from while winning is directly proportionate to the amount of games you win on Live Chess. If you win most of your games, you will find yourself being disconnected from more winning games, simply because of odds. But a player who has a 50% win-lose rate should have about a 50% win-lose disconnect rate.

Ray..... I know you believe you understand what you think he said but I am uncertain you realize that what you heard is not exactly what he meant

The disconnects (with the windows message) always happen when I'm in a winning position and the opponent is in clear disadvantage. It is difficult to believe that this is not done on purpose though I don't know how this is technically possible. Does anyone knows whether and how the disconnect can be induced by the opponent.

Thanks.
