A big part of why the women aren't rated as high as the men is because of the huge dropoff in female participation in chess after the junior high school level. Most competition chess clubs and tourneys are like 80%+, if not 90%+ men after the scholastic years. I don't think women are at all disadvanaged relative to men in something intellectual like chess, but you'll def see avg rating differences and even top rating differences given the 8x-9x size larger different pool of competitive serious male players vs women players over the scholastic level.
Discrimination in chess M/F?
Hey, please help us in our discussion.
My gf said it is unfair that women cant compete in the wm tournament because it is divided in m/f. She thinks that women should have the chance to take part in it and to show her skills.
Well, its true that a woman can compete in mans competitions but man cant in women competitions but tbh I never heard a women taking part in the pre-wm tournamants.
I found out that the best Women ELO was about 2740 which would be place 40 on the currents ELO list.
Sport is normaly divided in gender but in chess there are no physical components. Therefore chances could be seen as equal... What do you think?
Greetings :)
You're incorrect in thinking the only differences between a man and a woman are skeletal/muscular in nature. There are also behavioral differences rooted in evolutionary requirements for hominids to survive.
I heard said once that masculine men tend to have daughters and less masculine men tend to have more sons....Could be complete nonsense, but it stirs the pot up a bit...
naa if you have daughters you're a big bag of recessive traits and fragile chomosones.

so freaking bet the top female chess players could beat the op lol----------is there a point to this topic?
