Discussions in the forums, ruined by "Top players"

I want to address a problem in the forums here:

Someone opens a thread, some guys come out of Nowhere, bashing people... for no reason...

But - they're rating is 1900+, so they are God, and has the right to do anything. right? WRONG.

I strongly suggest starting to report them about Anything they say. They don't have any more rights here then a beginner rated 300 points... please do report them, - what they do is trolling, and it disturbs everybody, ruins the discussion, and make people afraid to share their opinions. enough with this weird tyranny of hooligans I say.

Godspeed.

Nobody first looks at rating when discussing, I checked that post, that person who criticized you was write, your opening ideas are bad by common knowledge and you should learn basic principles.

I should report any person who is over 1900 because he commented on a post? I dont think so.

I only complain when they say stupid crap like this

https://www.chess.com/forum/view/general/tired-of-theory-want-to-win-games-easily-no-problem-use-this-opening

Otherwise, they just have more to offer in chess related discussions based on the simple fact that they're better than us at chess

And no one was insulting you in your example tbh

This might be an overreaction. And I don't think there is enough evidence that this high rated player thinks he is God.

However, I wouldn't call his reaction constructive, especially not the way it was phrased. It was rather dismissive . OP presented an idea, and why he thought it might work, looking for feedback like "hey that might work" or "I don't think that will work, because of ...".  It wouldn't hurt the site if more people would be inclined to provide actual constructive feedback.

in the real world rich people's opinions count more than poor people, thats life buddy. get used to it. same thing with the chess community, higher rated players will always be more important.

When a high-rated player criticizes one of your ideas, you should first of all consider whether he might be perfectly correct.

There are some high-rated trolls on this site, sure. But there are also some very knowledgeable high-rated players who speak their minds plainly... if an idea is stupid, they'll call it stupid.

One of the high-rated trolls? Or one of the people who will tell you your idea is stupid?

Why not both?

I don't think there is anything wrong with what he said. What were you expecting?
