Disturbing profile photos are distracting me

I cannot perform my best due to disturbing profile photos. Is there a way to block these photos from showing in game? I estimate at least 200 points this takes away from my rating because of making me focus more on photo than game.

One user had photo of dead body or a simulation of dead body. Others are showing their hairy chest and male pattern baldness, flexing bicepses, bikini women, and farts lit with lighters. It is all distracting.

Please end this abuse of people's vision and auto-degrading of ultimate performances.

It is as if I go to tournament in clown costume. I do not think it is legal to distract opponents like that.

Eoin-MacLove

have you tried squinting ?

Eoin-MacLove

you could also look at the screen through a massive magnifying glass so the farts lit with lighters etc exit your peripheral vision. that eejit sacsacmate is still stalking the whole fricking site!

sacsacmate = 2Q1C = greedypawneater = the internets most pathetic cheat.

those 2Q sockpuppets are such shyte.

I use to find these things more disturbing when I am playing OTB.

There's nothing funny about late blooming. Please be patient with jalavan's nephew and give him the chance to catch up with the rest of us.

Monie49
DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT look at the profile photo.

Paying members do not experience this. If it is to one side, put a piece of cardboard over the offending images. Sorted.

Can paying members remove profile pictures from showing? Why you talk cardboard in 2017?

EscherehcsE

Cardboard will never go out of style...

Have you tried firing back with something even better for your profile?

Why is everyone being so flip with the OP?  He has a legitimate concern that is detracting from his chess.com experience because of people being childish and rude.  Profile pics shouldn't be offensive.  I don't like looking at those things he mentioned and I surely don't want kids forced to look at them.  Putting masking tape on your computer screen is awful.  Chess.com should either stop letting people choose pictures, have an enforced policy about offensive ones, or let users opt out of seeing them.  It's very ugly and if your life is so ugly you don't mind playing chess with a dead body looking at you, you should get out in the beautiful world a little.

What you call disturbing is advertising, fitting your personal preferences. So in case of distracting images I wonder you don't like them as they should fit your favor. Either way you could get a paid account, a diamond membership is great and all advertising disappears.
