Join the club--I've not yet beaten the computer either. But I'm slowly improving.
Do I really suck this bad?
all u do is exploit it and when the computer castles work to mating om b-2 i beat it 3 times in a row
I can't even beat the computer on easy. Do I really suck so bad? 0-25 so far against the computer. Please help!!
Try different openings... I was in the same boat until I did that and have beat twice on easy and twice on hard. Also, don't try to play fast. Take your sweet time.
Thanks for the feedback. I'm a total noob, so what is "mating om b-2"? I've tried different openings too. Just seems the computer knows my moves before I even make a move. I'll keep trying.
That's the best thing to do....I do just fine against it, until everything's developed and moves can no longer be made that do not involve loss/trade of material. Then I can't out-think it, and always seem to make the worst move possible in terms of what I'm trying to accomplish.
Then again, I seem to have that same problem against live competition, too!
Glad to know its not just me. There are at least three of us!! I am using Fritz 5 on Friend Mode (which I think is the easiest, the manual isnt that clear) and I am still lucky to reach move 30. I basically get thrashed. I also play online on FICS, and get thrashed! However, even I am slowly learning, so from the ashes of defeat ..... who knows?
Welp, I give up. Fifty times losing is enough for me. I'm trying everything that I know. Guess I need to go get lessons or something. Thanks for the help. I'm gonna go play with the noose that's hanging in the garage. LOL J/K!!
It seems the computer has a little trouble with Queen's Pawn openings. I beat it pretty consistently when it's on easy with it. Medium, however, is another matter. Just remember the fundamentals and you should be able to beat the computer eventually.
1)castle early
2)don't stack pawns
3)develop the center
I am sure there are some more fundamentals but those are enough for a beginner to start focusing on.
I forgot how I won, but usually, in most games, when the other player castles, I usually use a bishop, rook, or knight to pressure the pawns in front of the king, and pressure it some more with a queen. Then I go in for the kill :D (With the queen, obviously)
Most chess software will have a flaw in their programming allowing for exploitation. While this "flaw" allows you to go in and exploit the situation, you have to be careful not to translate this way of playing against the computer into a face to face or person to person game (since people have a way of seeing through these types of moves). I too get pounded/beat up by my software!
Blah blah blah... I don't think the computer was that great. So don't waiste your time. play real people with real ideas to really get good.
Tell u what write the games down from now on, then go over it yourself and see what mistakes u have made and it has made. Next show us ur games and we should be able to give u some idea's on how to improve on it.
The answer to ur question if im being honest is YES you suck at chess if u cant beat it at easy level even once, but dont let that stop u at least u can improve, just a journey to improvement and learning how to adjust to the way pc opponents play. All the best and remember to write out ur games...
Find an opening that seems to suit your style of play and play it every time. Each time, learn what the computer is doing to win. Print the games and go over them on your chess board, looking for missed opportunities. Do not abandon the opening. Make sure the time controls are fair to you. Good luck.
Thanks for the help! By the way, I just started learning chess about a week ago so sympathize with me!
Please don't give up. Patience is a virtue. I was losing non-stop and I was in chess dispair, then one day I had a win and you appreciate this kind of win more than any other. Also I think you should play a real person, less robotic.
No matter how many times you lose, always try to learn from your losses.....
Next time you play the computer, look at the game, look at every position that you encounter. Look at your weaknesses, look at how your weaknesses were exploited, and also look at your strengths. Always try to gain from your opponents and yourself. NO YOU DO NOT SUCK IF YOU LOSE!!!!!! Look at the computer as a block that strengthens your play against any opponent.
Win or lose, you'll pick up something Trust me, I've lost plenty of chess matches , but I was always learned "even in defeat, gain knowledge".

aw, i bet you dont suck that bad. Im just bored. i screamed yay when my king was taken. then i found out that was bad, duh lol
Ten things:
1. castle early
2. spend at least ten seconds on every move
3. don't get intimidated if the computer takes your pieces
4. Don't cpature for the sake of capturing, and don't check for the sake of checking
5. Bring out kninghts before bishops
6. Study king and pawn endgames
7. Play aggresively, but don't play recklessly
8. Try to already know what the computer will do before you move
9. Don't bring out your queen in the opening
10. Don't forget your king's safety is your main priority.
