I ahve played on this site for since 2016 atleast, this login is via fb but had one with a google ac before.

Heard this from my opponent:

mathiasror: if you need this long time to play your first move. I suspect you are cheating..
i suspect you malke a lot of presumptions
mathiasror: you are indian after all. You have a notorious reputation

Is this guy a just a troll or is this true? I knwo people can cheat, but do they? I jsut play for fun and mental stimulation. If its cheating then whats the point?

If your country occupies a quarter of the world's population, I guess you'll always be targeted. Don't sweat it!

You'll get a certain amount of mindless abuse whatever flag you play under. However, from a few forum threads I've seen (which to the credit of chess.com are usually shut down fairly quickly) it does seem that Indians are a particular target for a certain minority of sad and angry users. It must really wreck these people's heads to know the last world champion was Indian. Anyhow, if it's really getting to you, you can change your settings so people can't message you or leave notes on your wall. And please do report players for abuse, especially when it's racial.

Only the ones who take it out on other people on the basis of nationality.

Of course if you're sad, angry and Indian you're a target for all sides.

Absolutely. We’ll deserved reputation of being rude and unsportsmanlike.

Irrespective of whether you're an Indian, South-East Asian, African, White or Trumpian, anyone who isn't educated enough to respect others can be 'conveniently' ignored.

The gentleman above me @LordSasquatch belongs to same league of illiterates.

I came across a supposedly female chess.com member's profile (obviously I wouldn't know if it's a dog or a female behind the screen) a few days ago and found this note on the profile page "Indian guys, don't msg me". Now, without judging her, I'd like to state that she could have blocked any rotten souls who msged her but making it public for a particular community shows where she/he/it comes from.

Save your time and block such losers. They don't deserve your attention.

If you wait long time to play the first move then you are suspicious, but your flag doesn’t even necessarily shows your root country to say a specific country has a bad reputation (since by a mouse click one can change the flag).

The funny thing about stereotypes is they are usually right. 🤣

Avatar of Gump_forest

i get these types of messages all the time , just dont type anythinghappy.png..let them make assumptions or whatever, we have plenty of nice people to talk to (including me) in this site  so just report those racial comments

Avatar of Gump_forest

lot of acccounts have closed after me reporting them for racial messages like that ,so of course just report ,nothing else to do

and of course india is a large country so they of course have more good players as well as more cheaters compared to other countries

Yeah like males are better than females and people with disabilities can't play sports right?

You know the difference between cockroaches and prawns? They belong to the same family but carry different traits. The same goes for humans.

Indians are great players.

My beef with Indians is that when they are in a losing position, they will - more than others - make me wait until the clock runs out to get my win.
Avatar of Zxen01

If someone gives me the silent treatment after I speak to them I will walk away and let the game time out. Only dishonourable cheats don't reply. So I report them for cheating as well.

Avatar of ramagician
Sadly there's a lot of racist people out there. I haven't had any more issues with players with the Indian flag than with any other flag.

What if they don't speak English?

Indian players are very strong as chess is entwined in their culture and history. I find that a small percentage of people in general - from ALL over the world - will disconnect, abuse, let time run, etc. There isn't one country whose players do so more than others.

I think it's wrong and small-minded to unfairly target a country's people for racial stereotyping.

Millions of idiots jammed packed in one country is asking for problems. Even outside of chessdotcom, they are a nuisance. My country is already blocking those scam calls from India, hopefully I won't get anymore of them.
