it is true when I was a noob (i still kinda am) I played rapid and I play daily games to analyze my position to make better moves and I play faster games now 5-10 min to and can easily find good moves quickly
Do most beginners prefer longer time controls?

Yeah, I have had a very similar experience, as well. I started out with Rapid games, but as soon as I felt comfortable with my openings I immediately transitioned to Blitz. I don't have the patience for anything above 10min anymore.
It feels more comfortable to play. I'm struggling to keep 1000 in blitz, but I believe I can get to 1200 in rapid with my current skill. Maybe this just has to do with the player pool size.

@Galaxy_Chess_God Just looked at some of your games and you're definitely doing fine.
The one thing that helped me make my biggest rating gains was fully committing my time and studies to a specific opening for White and Black and memorize as many variations and positions as I could.
Every game I played, I just used these openings and analyzed everything, again memorizing the best moves and making adjustments. At some point you'll not only become an expert in these openings, but your overall strength and ability to recognize certain patterns will skyrocket. That's how I cracked 2000 both online and under FIDE.
60% of the time White plays the Queen's Gambit and one of the most aggressive responses is the Albin Counter Gambit. For White I'd recommend the London System or Ruy Lopez.

I actually have been seeing counter gambits a lot from queen gambit so i change to scotch game
Other openings as black I usually stick the same idea or develop my knight/bishop and pawn structure

When I started I was only doing 15-20 minute games which was more reflective of the games I played in real life with friends. Then I got lost in the blitz rabbit hole, which is really unhelpful. Then I started doing daily games which helped me a lot. I need to do more slow time control games because all time controls help in different ways, especially 10-15 minute+ games.

Trust me, do some research on the Albin Counter Gambit, you will get some easy wins, especially <2000 you will crush easily with it.
Here is one variation called the Lasker Trap, Coming up, I can't tell you how many people I obliterated with this and similar lines.

My personal experience is I have always prefered no time , speed chess to me is not as enjoyable it is a completely different game at fast times , I am no goid at all at fast times very weak
A thing I find out is that studying openings is the best thing you can do in order to improve. Forget tactics, I'm trying to learn 3 or 4 lines out of every famous opening.

I agree. When I play real chess we dont use a clock at all. We just play. The only time I used a clock is online chess.

Here is a game I played not too long ago using that line variation of the Albin Counter.
I honestly believe that it's a very powerful attack against <2000, but for <1500 it will just kill without a doubt.
The queen's gambit is just played so much, that mastering this opening can be a real quick rating boost, especially online.

I am a beginner and most of my games are 30 minutes. My rapid rating is 1100 and my bullet rating is 700.

As a patzer myself with the embarrassing rating of 1600 online I can say that I find blitz games more exciting, but I am so bad at them and they don't improve my chess skill that I feel like playing at least 30 minute games is more instructive. I feel like this probably also holds some truth for other patzers who are interested in sometime becoming strong players.

i am a patzer who prefers long time controls. check out my recent games (in my archive) if you want to know why. or my otb games.

Openings is just memorization and only helps in to a point , Tactics and end game is where you should be studying chess without question , a friend of mine is a good natural player , she is rated 2100 plus she has never learned openings
I was just wondering if it was true that most beginners prefer longer time controls like Rapid or is that just a myth?
