there's actual scientific studies that tell you the same thing. Do I really need to Google it for you?

I'm sorry, but if you are going to make such absurd statements, then you should be ready to back them when questioned.

I really hope this is a troll thread.

In the age of information, ignorance is a choice. What I am saying is well known scientific fact. Clearly you have already made up your mind and are just trying to argue against me. I don't care for such things. If you are truly "interested" about this issue then do your own damn research.

Well, you know. I majored in psychology at university and one part of my studies was women studies and gender studies. And nowhere did I EVER read something like this.

So, the only thing I can figure is you are talking out of your ass because you are a misoginistic little troll. Which I already knew when I responded since I'd seen you post similar garbage many times in these forums.

Real chess players don't let anyone win.  If I was playing a kid with cancer, that only had one week to live, I don't think I would let them win.  They can earn their victories like the rest of us!

Is there no room in chess for compassion?

Despite my concern for your possible lack of compassion, I totally agree.

Who knows, perhaps you would inspire the kid to spend some of his precious remaining time learning about chess. For sure, there are worse things you could do with your remaining time.

Studies which present inconvenient truths are hushed up, with the scientists fearing they will be labeled in the same way you just labeled me. I see that today's psychology has become less about determining truth and more about making people feel good about themselves. Keep staring at the shadows if you want.

Studies which could reveal inconvenient truths can't even get funding. You have an easier time hitching up the ol' car battery to a cat's brain again.

On letting people win - no, never, I don't care who it is, you always play 100% to win. Before and after the game you can be friends with your opponent, but not during it.

On the troll stuff, it's worth posting the link to the Wikipedia page for hunter-gatherer societies, the predominant form of human society for the first 99% of human history. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hunter-gatherer

Research shows that although men and women had different roles (men hunting and women gathering, although not exclusively, there was some overlap), both roles were valued by society, and there was nothing to make women feel like they were less important to the group.

Shouldn't you guys be out hunting bison or something?

Do many talented women enjoy building up men's delicate egos by letting them feel like they've won all on their own . . . or are these women simply afraid of the long term effects of such demasculating victories?

You don't need the "d" in front of emasculating.

I know you're popular, and a chick, so I will probably get some troll attacking me for saying this.

But why would you start a thread that is posted in one form or another almost every week on Chess.com and always ends-up with the same pointless drivel?

Surly a smart gal like yourself does not need to feed YOUR delicate ego by placing bait for mindless trolls who don't get that whole man/woman thing.

        Quite so.
