I went to my first chess club meeting at school today..I lost but learned a lot..never played a tournament style game before with a clock..a G30 game..never even knew what that was until today..I was the only girl there so it was a bit weird...

I went 1-3 in my first tournament and the game I won the guy threw lol. You get used to hitting the clock and writing your moves after a while. Just make sure that when you see a good move you try to find a better one. Also, don't worry so much about bring the only girl. Just go and have fun!

I played in junior high. Playing every day helped me get better. Mixing it up with games, openings, end games, speed chess, etc. helped me get better.
I was the school district champ 45 years ago.
