Do you mention that you play chess to girls? I never used to until this one time I was at a party talking to this girl when another person came up and was like "Hey you're the chess guy!" (i'm president of a club) and the girl thought that was really cool and it started a great conversation afterwards.

My wife and I have been together since 1998. I played in a chess tournament the weekend after our first date and called her between rounds on Sunday. Pretty sure that I mentioned chess at dinner on Friday.
I've been on about half a dozen 'dates' in my life. I had a gf that played chess occasionally. If I ever met anyone now and they asked me what I did in my free time, I'd have to mention it. I do nothing else...
i love chess, even though i stink at it. i'm not great at baseball, but i like watching it. i'm a golf pro and that is my #1 passion. if your partner has an issue with the things you like, maybe you shouldn't be together.

It would be a wonderful idea, you can tell a lot about someone by playing chess with him/her.
Sorry to say this but playing chess is not feminine... and sometimes being a girly girl who has a masculine trait is a turnoff... to some guys. So as a precaution, I don't really want to appear 'masculine' when I first meet a guy...
