do you think Levy will be a GM?

No. He’s peaked. Improving his chess is not his priority. Growing the audience for his streaming and YouTube channels is more important.

I gave my opinion. It is not based on a single episode.
Have you watched his interview with Lex Fridman? That might give you a better perspective.
Levy is very bright. He might be improving his content now that he’s built a large following. Playing better will help. Surely he’s aware of how strong players view the quality of his content (poorly).

@xtreme: Prioritizing content doesn't mean to make unsound sacrifices in serious otb games. He knows what pays his bills, and that is not serious chess study. My best bet is that he is using this 'my road to gm' story to create innovative content.

It's entirely possible, given how well he's performed in tournaments lately. He's definitely still working on content, but that doesn't mean that he can't still be good enough to become a GM. (Naroditsky, Hikaru) If they can continue to perform at the highest level while making content, I think Gotham can perform at a lower level and do the same.

I'm sure he can pull some strings and make it happen, y'know, using the connections he has with big chess.
Can he become a GM legitimately though? NO CHANCE HAHAHAHA 😂😂😂😂
tf?

Hikaru became a GM as a teenager. No one was streaming then. Naroditsky, too.
Levy is smarter, I suspect, but his chess talent is not on the same level. Even so, you are comparing super-GMs to a solid IM.
If Levy made becoming a GM his principal focus, he could get there. I think he makes more money as a streamer.

Maybe if he sacrifices the ROOOOOOOOK
Maybe, but he will have to work on the QUEEEEN, now!

But what if A PAWN MOVES *Acoustic Levy noises*
Lol it's definitely not. He's earning a huge stack by being a top chess content creator. Becoming a GM brings him no benefits. He would be a 2500 rated GM. As Nakamura mentioned many times, only top 10 or 20 players make money by playing chess. Everyone else has to do something else. Either teach or write books or articles, etc.
There's no money for him being a 2500 FIDE rated GM. And definitely NOT the same money he earns on streaming content.

They still play at a super-GM level while streaming, instead of playing at a lower level due to content creation. If they can consistently play at GM level while creating content, then Levy can learn to do the same. If he can play at GM level consistently, then he becomes a GM.
