Anand is past it, sorry but he hasn't played good chess for several years now. Carlsen - Kramnik would be interesting but only if Kramnik is in top form. Carlsen - Aronian would also be good but I don't think Aronian's style will hold up against Carlsen in a match.
Carlsen-Caruana would be interesting as would Carlsen-Karjakin.

No, but he could get Anand's place if Anand decides to drop out, which a lot of people think will happen.
I'd like to see someone new playing for the WCC - Anand and Kramnik have had their spell and both aren't as good as they used to be, so Caruana or Aronian would be my choices. Or maybe Svidler on top form (he was the last person to beat Carlsen, and he did it with Black ...).

Yes it's very unfortunate that genuine contenders like Caruana won't be there when you have guys that are just making up the numbers in the candidates tournament.

wow!! I never said anything about Anand. I was referring to players like Andreikin and arguably others who have no real shot at the title. These spots would be better off going to real contenders even though that cannot be the case since they didn't qualify wow

I know how the selection process works. I'm just saying that it's a shame that serious contenders like Caruana (and arguably Naka) won't be there but people who have no real chance of winning - and I will include Anand in that category - will.
