Do you wear an any special clothing, shoes, gloves, hats, good luck charms, make-up, cologne, phermones, pins, broaches, jewelry or other adornments when playing in formal chess tournaments and events?  And if so, please describe what you wear, and your primary motivations for doing so.

For a formal chess event, I wear my ceremonial dress, consisting of a huge chessboard drawn on silk, and bring the Book of the Elders, that includes quotes and analysis of the great players of the past.

For regular tournaments, I don't really dress up. What for ? The top players do suit up, but I have no camera following me yet.

I might have chosen different wording myself.

I'm in suits and bow ties daily for work, as well as on the weekends for church, so I'd likely wear a suit and bow tie. Formal enough?
