My solution has been to delete all my progress and start over again when I realize that the material is really over my head. I've probably done that 10 or 12 times...sigh. I'm proceeding on the assumption that repeated exposure will eventually trigger that holy grail of chess instruction: pattern recognition. I think it's working somewhat. GM Wolff has some tactics courses that explore the various motifs and they are the real deal, astounding examples of both the beauty and complexity of chess. After 10 years of struggling with them, I'm making some progress. The nice thing about diamond membership is you can hammer away at the lessons as much as you want. I'd say struggle through to the end of the queen level which will get you through the core lessons and then delete your progress and start again. Yeah, there's some busy work on the beginning lessons but they shouldn't take too long. Do that process a few times and the material will start to make sense. No one said chess was easy. ![]()
Oh and it doesn't have to be either/or. You probably make more progress by studying, playing and solving puzzles than concentrating just on one.
I am on the queen level but even the level before i have struggled with. I don't know whether to continue with it even though my memory is bad or to carry on playing the computer. any help would be welcome.
