Yes, you take everything literally, congrats.  High Five!  And then you go all keyboard warrior on me, as if to prove my initial point.  Only a mental midget like yourself, obsessed with a literal interpretation of a phrase I typed in passing, would try and say I meant that every citizen of a country has the same level of intelligence(in reality, my statement was based upon how America ranks on things like education and test scores compared to the rest of the world, contrary to the huge opportunities that Americans have compared to many countries, which is fact).  Again, I don't give a shit what YOU thought I meant.  LOL.  Go away.

Can we just say that Fixing_A_Hole may or may not be dumb, but if he continues to try to argue against brainless trolls, he is? Smile

Can't argue with you there.  Working on bio stats makes me go insane!

I'll leave you all with some wise words, which I myself failed to adhere to.

"Arguing on the internet is like entering the special olympics.  Even if you win, you're still retarded."

More comical irony here, and lots of it. In any event, ADG™, your irrelevant delusions are dismissed, and your tacit concession on the matter is noted, again.

And we can add "keyboard warrior" to the list of words/terms you use despite not knowing what they mean.

I think what he meant was there are enough dumb Americans that he understands why we get a bad reputation and has no qualms about saying so himself, without taking the time to generalize.

As for how I see it, if the rest of the world wants to hate on us because, we were smart enough to flee and fight for our freedom, that became so great, we could live so comfortably that we flourished in a dumbed down society for so long that it has become a detriment, let em. They are probably jealous anyway and would have been happy for us to stay under the whip, in the stocks, etc...

As for America "needing" a chess champ, we had one and many people all over the world are still complaining about him. I find it interesting how some people love arrogant, demanding and flambouyant personalities in many arenas, yet in chess, no dice...uh, if he is an American... Undecided

I suppose we could quantify what "need" means to the OP and what it should/could mean to us collectively as US citizens but, I think the term want is better interchanged. I think most Americans wouldn't care. Do I think it would help chess to become more popularized in the US if there is a US world champ, perhaps a bit. I think it would honestly take at least one who is long tenured as champ or really that we'd dominate for 20-30 years with 2-3 champs, to truly have a noticeable impact. I know, I know, I can hear the laughter of foreign players, from all over the world, all the way from here and I am not even done typing. So I guess it probably doesn't matter what we'd hypothetically want because, we mostly, simply don't want it as a society, not just here but, anywhere in the world.

The self-loathing American liberal; my favorite.

My favorite is the flag waving conservative who, faced with 40 years of stagnant wages, interest on savings well below the inflation rate, and endless "war" sold to them by corporate controlled media in order to keep $$ flowing to the military industrial complex, blames it all on the black guy in the Oval Office.

The conservative was against the exectuive order allowing 5 million illegals to get subsidized jobs that saves companies 3000 dollars a year. Some people would argue that five more million people in the workforce on top of them  being cheaper then americans, helps keep the wages low.

Fallacy inc. helps you to support your position by easy talking points.

You are at the economics departement, viewing the item: lump of labor.

This fabulous piece of argument has stood the test of time and the public keeps believing in it despite refutations dated 200+ years. Your political alignment does not matter: invoke it against immigrants (if on the right) or for work time regulations (if on the left).
