He does own two competing chess web sites, so I'd think no unless maybe he needed one for some online championship chess.com was running. Translation: I don't know....

he has accounts, @magnuscarlsen @playmagnus @menugarden maybe more, but he uses chess.com only for special events. Usually he plays somewhere else.
He has just the main account active for playing games, used for several events in the past. He’s invited to all the events and on occasion creates a new username for the event, then closes the account making it inactive.
