Good Afternoon Fellows, Yesterday My Husband blindfolded me and made me memorize the Squares and like moves and stuff, Now I can kind of visually represent my moves before I play them in my Mind!

Since doing that, I gave good competition to quite higher rated friends of me! So technically it did quite help me, but the thing is after a little break of days between playing that advantage gets diminished, So everything is kind of dependent on Practice I guess!

I wanted to know if Practice Like this really does Improve your play in a long term basis! Whats your fellow take on this?! From my point of view it helped me a little bit and also its quite fun to play and improve this way!

Mind it I kind of made a blunder with my queen at last but it was like due to having less time and also it was quite the night and I was sleepy haha!

Chess practice does make you better if you practice in the right way, e.g analysing your games

Also puzzles are very good if you take your time and make sure to get a few right a day

I don’t exactly know what did you practise, for learning how squares on the board are called there is feature on chess.com named “vision “. I would think that blindfolded practise is too hard for 600 but if you enjoy it then definitely do it. GM Robert Cvek wrote in his book that blindfolded practise was one of most important tools in his road to GM title.

My friend George Koltonowki who was world blindfold champion said that playing blindfold his play improved because he could see the board better. I learned to play blindfold using descriptive notation when I was 21. I played while working with another employee just because our boss said if he caught us playing chess we were FIRED.

I'm sure it does help you improve.

I tried once or twice, it is reaaaaaally difficult though, at least for me. So I didn't invest the time and energy in this kind of practice, but might get back to it at some point...
