it is said that grand masters tend to rise from light skined people..eg asia, usa or europe..how true is that? Or rather do you believe that and why? *PS:NO RACIST COMMENTS*

Race is nothing. Culture matters a great deal though.

am not deleting anything..i dont think race or culture influences some one to be the best in 'chess'*though in other things,in a little way i must add* any one can achieve the best if they believe..I BELIEVE I CAN BEAT KASPAROV even though am some where between a novice and the later..compared to other countries..third world countries have what it takes to become undisputed grand master..they lack exposure and support..finacial backup too..i can bet a hundred on that.:-)

i have more black friends then white and find my black friends dont play or are not so good at chess. but my asian friends play chess and most are very good players.

who cares?

lupe007
we care...anywhere,i know a few africans if given a chance..would out shine even the great grand master of now and yester years.you see..in most parts of africa chess is over looked as a minor sport..hence players lack sponsorship by the government to tournaments that would improve the continents rating and ranking in world chess..i have a few examples i can give..but all in all i think you get the point..unless or otherwise B-)

What you're dealing with here is GENERALIZATIONS, which do not hold true in every case, but which do establish a pattern. It may seem 'unkind' to state that light-skinned folks (in general) are better chess players than dark-skinned folks, but then again, dark-skinned folks seem to have a knack for performance in athletics and music more so than their light-skinned counterparts. Now, is that unkind, or just a verifiable generalized fact?

And why do people rave about French cooking? What about Polish food? Is it just prejudice?

How about German engineering? BMW's and Mercedes-Benz are lauded; what about Yugo's? Must be just prejudice, right?

Face it. Some "races" and cultures are just better at certain things than others (in general Wink).

Light skinned people are much better at Chess, we the blacks tried our best to reach their level but we just can't and that's it!

knockoutartist47

If that's the case, Indians are not light skinned and are producing GMs on industrial scale. It's all about culture

Yes, if you can run the 100 meter dash, you'll be a better chess player...

Oh, so that’s why I’ve been unable to pass 1600! Welp, guess I better go do some cardio!

Absolutely! You win the race to the 8th rank and statistics say that Pawn will win you 88.64% of games.

Wits-end
