Doing better against bots than people.

One thing I've found quite frustrating during my time on Chess.com, is the fact I can comfortably beat a 1500 rated bot offline, but when it comes to my rapid games, I'm hovering around the 950 mark. 1) Is it because the bots are rated higher than they should be, if they were real people? 2) What can I do to change this? I would appreciate any advice, thanks in advance. 😁

Yes the bots are over rated, although probably only by 2 or 300 points.  Thing is bots play differently than humans.  Despite all the advances in trying to make them play in a more human fashion, they're still somewhat predictable.  Hang in there against a bot and eventually it blunders and most of the lower rated ones really suck at endgames.

The way you get better at chess is easy to understand, if hard to do.  Do puzzles regularly, study something daily and play games, being sure to analyze your games to try and learn from them.  All of this takes time, but it's not rocket science...OK maybe it's even harder than rocket science. wink.png

😂😂Thanks. Definitely true about the blunders but people make mistakes too. How long did it take you to get where you are now?

67 years, but I never started studying until about 10 years ago which is a bit late to expect to get good.  At my age I study to get worse more slowly rather than to get better.  Sounds like a joke, but it's not...sigh.

Best of luck for the future. Thanks for the advice 👍

Perhaps the bots could be renamed to animals as in favorite cats or dogs. That way - losing to them won’t feel so bad.

When playing against bots, there is no time limit! And that affects your game a lot.

And you can take a move back and decide not to do that blunder you just didwink.png

The bots will one day get together and take over the world. Judgement Day is coming!
