Thanks to school I know how to read, thanks to school I know how write, yes, school teach me a lot but they did something else, they made me lose interest in most of the things, math is amazing but lets no say lies here, most of the guys hate math in school, not only math, books, they made me read some beautiful books and I hate those in that time, I had the chance to read them later on my own by pleasure and reading is great.
Who doesn't love music? well more or less everyone at my school thanks to the teachers, schools hire teachers, yes, but those teachers makes you love what they teach?
A great teacher is not someone who knows a lot, a great teacher is someone that makes you love what he teach, someone that inspire you, in my case I never knew someone like this, my friends after 11 years in schools they never like anything from the school and wanted to study something different.
Chess is beautiful, just like math, just like music, but is everyone going to love chess in school? even if its something beautiful, is it going to happen? the answer is no, actually forcing anyone to anything is just going to end up in a deep hate for that thing.
Don't get me wrong, I am not saying that if this happen in all schools everyone is going to hate chess, but if you want that someone loves chess then make sure he is learning from someone that love chess so much that can share that feeling with him, someone that its funny and makes chess really fun, I know chess teachers that are really strong players, over 2400+ and are not very good teachers, are great guys but no great teachers, and I also know guys that only have 1600 and are great teachers, maybe they are not a very strong player, but you learn from them and you end up with the some love that he has.
My conclusion is: attract guys at chess, make them have a little of interest in chess, then put it in lessons with someone that loves chess and can share that feeling to them, sit and wait, and you will have a guy with a deep passion for chess.
