Don't you feel stupid and depressed when looking at master's games?

I feel incredibility stupid and a bit depressed when I see what masters can do at the chessboard. I still leave hanging pieces sometimes, then they make a combination you'll never see...

I recently saw 2 endgame composition, one by Benko and the other was posted here by IM prfen, but I don't remember the author. Well, after seeing them I though: "They are real geniuses, they created something incredible, I could never think something like that, I can't even find the solution! They are geniuses, and I'm incredibily stupid!"

Nah, I realize it took them great effort to get to that point.

I look at it and "Wow! That is a beautiful combination and for them to see that far down is incredible."

But this is a recent phase for me. I am appreciating the finesse or the art more now.

No.  When I play over a Master's game, I feel the same way I do when I hear a beautiful piece of music or look at a painting - inspired!  These are some of the things that make life worth living.

I can't compose music like Bach, paint like Van Gough, or play chess like Tal, but I can study and improve and make a beautiful move of my own now and then.  The harder I work, the more beauty I learn to create.
