He’s 71 years old.
Makro stopped playing competitive chess 42 years ago, when he was elected as president of the Greek Chess Federation. When he stopped he had two GM norms. Back then he used to play OTB odds 1 minute vs 5 with analog chess clocks, and doing remarkably well. He is 72, and having quite a few health issues.
He has a very long history as a chess official, both at the GCF and FIDE.
