That would explain the friends/groups setup. I guess a large group of free players, with revenue from ads, would be more profitable than a small group of paying members.
Dumb Question
ahh that is explain while you were away 1899, didn't you created that sockpuppet legobanana ? since he only been here for 1 day and came with this question already.
I've been doing my research :) As I mentioned, I've come to chess.com a different way than most others, and am curious about such things. BTW, I'm not 1899.
And, as I said, I want to learn more about what the site is for, I have heard many conflicting opinions
It's endless! "New" members popping up and starting a thread about Chess.com moderators. It's almost hilarious!

Yes is it indeed. Make the most of it while it last.
Yes, new members hear about the site, and have questions like this. They do their research, and then ask their question.
And then trolls gang up on him. I guess I was wrong, chess.com needs heavier moderating.
It seems as if, there are older members on call to rush in and start raising a ruckus whenever anyone asks questions. They, oh, seem so personally invested in the whole situation, do they not?
I just think it's hilarious. Creating account after account, thread after thread about moderators

and about number of members.

I am curious to know how much chess.com is moderated, and what the specific purpose of the site is. One opinion I have heard is that it is a site strictly for chess. However, I am inclined to disagree with that, for several reasons. Firstly, chess.com links to social media sites like facebook. Secondly, there is a large forum system set up, with off-topic and general discussion being by far the main forums. Additionally, the very structure favors a large, open, user base, although premium membership can be purchased for perks. Going back to the second reason, we hit upon the point of moderation again. I have heard of accounts being closed just for mentioning various topics, such as other chess sites, or David's departure, as well as for sharing links to websites (such as http://livingrevolution.co/2013/08/06/why-i-quit-my-dream-job/ , the comments of which have been where I heard many opinions about these matters) . I am curious to know the opinions of members of chess.com on this matter, and would appreciate help understanding this. Thank you!
