E4 leads to open games with attacking chances?! I play e4 because I want the closed ruy lopez!
e4 VS d4!!

D4 can become tactical fast if someone has the nerve to play the queens gambit accepted, likewise e4 can become more positional if the sicilian is played.
The sicilian defense is considered as a sharp tactical opening...

It depends on what sicillian. Most of the open sicillians are very sharp.
No matter what I might open with, I'm confident that I could ruin a perfectly decent middlegame and throw it all out the window.
The only way to settle this? I hate to point it out, but a rap battle would be more logical.
any one want to get this thread going again? yes or no please, no "your such a troll" bla blah blah bla
I'm a d4 player. It leads to better games for me. I can actually equalize and then explode with attacks a lot easier with d4 than e4, but that's just me. I feel like I'm in more control as white. On the other hand if someone plays d4 against me, I'm almost always play the Dutch Stonewall variation or Leningrad variation. The Dutch defense is a great defense against d4 and I highly recommend it for people who like closed games.

Actually quite interesting fact is that In System Hans Berliner said: "If there is a correct move after 1.e4 e5 it must be 2.f4, since 2.Rf3 limits further aggression in the center because the f2.pawn will not be able to participate. Since 2.f4 is not feasible, it is likely 1.e4 is wrong." :)
